VIN lookup guide
Use your Mercedes VIN to check navigation update availability.
Your VIN is a useful starting point for finding a Mercedes map update. The lookup checks the vehicle information available to the service and, where supported, returns a navigation package and PIN price.
Updated
What the navi-update VIN lookup returns
Enter the full 17-character Vehicle Identification Number from your vehicle records. The result can show the Mercedes vehicle and year. If the service finds an available navigation update, it also provides the navigation generation, map region, version, download link and activation PIN price.
This is a navigation update lookup. It is not a vehicle history report, a guarantee of the car's current hardware or a list of every factory option. Use the result to narrow the update, then compare it with the installed navigation system.
How to read the result
A supported map update is shown
Confirm that the vehicle is correct, then review the system, region and map version offered. These details are also used by the PIN order. Keep them together when preparing map files; selecting a different region or system in a download tool can produce a mismatch.
The car is identified, but no update is offered
The service has not found an available update for this VIN. That result does not establish that no other update route exists. The unit may be outside the supported product families, or the configuration may need review. See the compatibility overview and contact support before buying another code.
No car is identified
Compare every character with the vehicle records. Check for a typing mistake and ensure you entered the full VIN. If the number is correct and the result still finds no vehicle, send it to support with a description of the result.
The lookup reports an error
Follow the displayed retry instructions. A network or CAPTCHA error prevents the check from completing; it is not evidence that the navigation system is unsupported. Save the error text if the problem continues.
What a VIN cannot confirm on its own
Vehicle information may reflect the factory configuration. A previous owner or workshop may have fitted a replacement or different head unit. An imported vehicle may also have maps from a different market. In those cases, the VIN result and the hardware currently installed need to be checked together.
Take a photo of the complete map version screen and note any hardware changes you know about. Our navigation identification guide lists the details useful for resolving a mismatch. A model name or registration year alone cannot replace this check.
From VIN check to installation
- Confirm the installed system. Compare the result with the vehicle, especially after a retrofit or replacement.
- Prepare the offered package. Use the same system and map region, with the media requirements specified by that package.
- Review the PIN order. Check the VIN, generation, region, version and final price before payment.
- Follow the vehicle's update prompts. Enter the activation PIN when requested and verify the installed version after completion.
